Which one has lower cost, impact crusher or cone crusher?

2025-05-20 Visits:

Impact crusher and cone crusher are both medium and fine crushing equipment in the sand and gravel aggregate production line. They are usually used to further crush the coarsely crushed stones after the jaw crusher, and then screen them to produce stones of different specifications of 5-10/10-15/15-20/20-31.5mm.

At the same time, in terms of working principle and practical application, impact crusher and cone crusher are two different crushing equipment.

Which one has lower cost, impact crusher or cone crusher?

1. In terms of working principle, the impact crusher adopts the impact crushing principle. The stone is repeatedly impacted between the plate hammer and the impact plate for crushing, and the wear rate of wearing parts is high. The cone crusher adopts the lamination crushing principle, which can use the crushing effect between the stones to reduce the impact and wear on the machine.

2. In terms of practical application, it is precisely because of their different principles that they are different in application. Impact crusher is usually used in soft rock crushing, such as limestone, weathered stone, construction waste, etc. Cone crushers are usually used for hard rock crushing and metal ore crushing, such as granite, basalt, river pebbles, iron ore, copper ore, etc.

3. In terms of finished product particle shape and output size, impact crushers produce better stone particles, more cubes and fewer needle-shaped particles, while cone crushers have higher crushing efficiency and larger output, which has always been a common perception. However, with the continuous improvement and innovation of crusher technology, new impact crushers have also broken through the bottleneck of production capacity, and it is no longer a problem to achieve an hourly output of hundreds of tons or even thousands of tons. The lamination crushing principle of cone crushers has also greatly improved the particle shape and quality of finished stones, and can produce high-grade materials for high-speed railway and highway construction.

4. In terms of cost investment, the initial purchase investment of impact crushers is less than that of cone crushers, but if used for hard rock crushing, the wear on vulnerable parts is greater, and accessories need to be replaced frequently in the later stage, and the maintenance cost is higher. In the long run, the later maintenance production cost of cone crushers is lower than that of impact crushers.

Therefore, the question of which one has lower cost, the impact crusher or the cone crusher, cannot be generalized. The appropriate machine should be selected according to production requirements such as materials and output. Only the appropriate machine can fully exert its production function, avoid unnecessary losses, and thus reduce the overall cost.
