Roller crushers are mainly divided into several categories

2025-10-11 Visits:

Double-roll crushers, core equipment in the industrial crushing industry, are classified primarily based on the number of rollers, surface structure, and functional characteristics, forming the following three categories:

I. Classification by Number of Rollers

Double-roll crusher

Composed of two parallel rollers, these crushers achieve material shearing through relative rotation. They are suitable for medium and fine crushing (such as coal and limestone processing), with an adjustable output size range of 0.5-40mm. They offer a compact design and low energy consumption, but caution should be exercised against caking of the roller surfaces with sticky materials.

Four-roll crusher

Composed of two sets of upper and lower double rollers, they can be considered a stacked configuration. They excel at ultra-fine crushing (such as river pebbles and quartz), with output sizes below 0.1-3mm. While they offer a higher reduction ratio, this also increases equipment complexity and maintenance costs.

II. Classification by Roller Surface Structure

Smooth-roll crusher

Featuring a smooth roller surface, they primarily crush and grind, making them suitable for medium and fine crushing of medium-hard materials (such as cement clinker and metal ores), but are less adaptable to wet materials.

Toothed/Grooved Roller Type

Rollers with teeth or grooves on their surface offer both shearing and crushing capabilities, suitable for handling brittle, soft, or sticky materials (such as gangue and sand), improving crushing efficiency by over 30%.

III. Classification by Functional Characteristics

Hydraulically Adjustable Type

Dynamically adjusts the roller gap through a hydraulic system, enabling precise control of the output particle size (e.g., continuous adjustment from 0-3mm). This type is suitable for high-precision mining processing.

Combined Crusher

Combined with pre-screening or secondary crushing functions, this creates a closed-circuit system, reducing over-crushing and improving overall energy efficiency.

Conclusion

The classification of roller crushers requires a comprehensive consideration of material properties (hardness, moisture content) and process requirements (particle size, capacity). Current technological trends favor modular designs. For example, hydraulic four-roll crushers, through their intelligent adjustment systems, have achieved an optimized balance between production capacity and energy consumption.
